The department provides examples of research based materials and resources on health education topics, human growth and development, health literacy and wellness literacy. This course provides students with the skills needed to enhance (assess) the health of a community. We have partnered with many employers and educational institutions to provide their employees and students with education opportunities.
Many of our Community Health Ed students tell us this field work portion of their degree program was the most rewarding and valuable of their college career. Graduates are encouraged to obtain national certification as a Certified Health Education Specialist.
The Healthy Schools Program is here to connect you with the expertise, resources and training you need to provide all students with health education that focuses on essential topics and sets students on a path toward lifelong health. The doctoral programs are based on the scientist-practitioner model, and provide balanced training in behavioral science and health education research and practice.
In the United States some forty states require the teaching of health education. Our program offers students a convenient online health education, all for a fraction of the cost of comparable degree programs. Community Health Education Specialists design, implement and evaluate health education and promotion programs at the individual, group, institutional, community and system-level to improve health knowledge, attitudes, skills and behavior.
